(Written for our daughter B. C., November 1, 1997)
If I could wish you a Wedding Wish,
I’d wish you a lifetime of Marital Bliss,
I’d wish you diamonds, I’d wish you pearls,
I’d wish you travel to exotic worlds.
I’d wish you a business that’s such a success;
Yet time for your family – you can’t love them less.
I’d wish you a long life, and excellent health,
I’d wish you a Savior, for Life after Death.
Yet more than all these, I’d wish for you,
A Love that is pure, and faithful, and true,
A Love that will be there for better or worse,
A Love where each one puts each other first.
A Love that will see you through sickness or health,
A Love that is yours when you’re poor, or have wealth.
A Love that you can’t buy, yet you give away free.
I’d wish you such Love – like your Mother and me!
